Meet Our Staff

Pediatric Therapists

Our staff are true pediatric specialists.  They work day in and day out with infants and toddlers and their families.  They are required to attend pediatric specific continuing education classes as part of their employment.

Karen

Karen Buhler, Early  Childhood Special Education Teacher, Lactation Support

Holds a Kansas Teaching License in Unified Early Childhood Education (General and Special Education, birth-age 8)

Experience/Field of Interest:
Karen has been working with infants, toddlers, and preschoolers since 2009. She taught in an early childhood special education classroom in Gardner, KS before working in early intervention in Topeka. She enjoys and has had experience working with infants/toddlers and their families from a variety of backgrounds and needs.

Personal Information:
Karen, a native of Topeka, came to Lawrence for college and hasn’t left since. She and her husband have two young children and love their East Lawrence neighborhood. She loves graphic design, dancing, and going to the park with her family.


Jessica

Experience/Field of Interest:
Jessica has worked in the field of Early Childhood Special Education for over 12 years with experience helping children and families with multiple needs. Some of her experience comes from working in a school district setting as a Speech-Language paraprofessional helping plan and implement strategies to assist children with a variety of speech   disorders.

Personal Information:
Jessica grew up near Kansas City and, after attending college, moved to Eudora in 2000   with her husband. She enjoys going for walks, riding bikes and spending time with her family.

Experience/Field of Interest:
Jamie  hasbeen a social worker for over 15 years. She does many of the intakes for our tiny-k families and enjoys introducing families to our services. Jamie is endorsed by the State of Kansas as an Infant Mental Health specialist. She is a member of the Success by 6 Family Resource team and has worked for tiny-k since November 2007.

Jamie is married, has two children and lives in Lawrence. She enjoys reading, participating in church activities and spending time with family.

Experience/Field of Interest:
Christine has been working with kids with speech, language and feeding concerns for over 5 years. She loves working with not only with kids, but also the people who know them best, their families. Christine came to tinyk Douglas County in April 2014.

Personal Information:
Christine lives in Lawrence with her husband, 3 children as well as a couple of big dogs and a flock of backyard chickens.  She enjoys gardening, traveling, spending as much time as possible outside and reading good books.

Experience/Field of Interest:
Kristin has been a pediatric Speech-Language Pathologist since 2006. Previously, she worked in a private pediatric clinic in Murrieta, CA, providing services for children ages one year to 18 years. Kristin has been working for tiny-k Early Intervention since January, 2007.

Personal Information:
Kristin lives with her husband and two young sons in Lawrence with their dog. They enjoy traveling, eating out, riding bikes, and running.

Aña has worked at tiny-k since 2007.  She enjoys working with infants/toddlers and their families and the excitement that comes with reaching new milestones. Aña has experience working with a wide variety of children and their families and has had extensive training with feeding and vision issues.  

Personal Information:
Aña lives in Lawrence with her husband and 2 children.  She enjoys reading, dancing and playing outside.  Aña teaches a dance class for children with special needs.

Experience/Field of Interest:
Jade has been a physical therapist since 2011.  Her post-professional pediatric residency was completed at Creighton University, where she treated children in outpatient, NICU, and hospital inpatient settings.  She also served as resident faculty for Creighton’s DPT program.  Before coming to work at tiny-k, Jade worked in an outpatient clinic in Illinois, treating pediatric patients with a wide variety of diagnoses and bowel and bladder dysfunction.

Jade grew up in Salina, and after living in Nebraska and Illinois is very excited to call Kansas home again.   She enjoys reading, traveling, arts and crafts, and spending time with family and friends.

Experience/Field of Interest:
Katie has been working as a pediatric speech-language pathologist since 2010.  She previously worked in several public schools in the Kansas City area with children from preschool age through high school.  She is excited to join tiny-K and work with children and their families. She joined tiny-k in June of 2015.

Personal Information:
Katie lives in Lawrence with her husband, two children and various four-legged animals.  She loves spending time outside, listening to music, travelling, playing with her kids and reading.
